This build began in 2020 as the cornerstone of what would later become the Gurucollector brand. The vision was ambitious — to create a machine that carried the DNA of BMW Motorsport while still retaining the everyday comfort and usability that makes the M4 special.
From the start, the design language was central. The livery was not just cosmetic, but symbolic — inspired by the M2 Racing, M4 GT4, M6 GT3, and M8 GTE, each element of the wrap paid homage to BMW’s most iconic racing divisions. The GT Edition name emerged naturally, representing a fusion of motorsport pedigree and road-going refinement. The car was also given the racing number 23, a nod to the GT4 championship-winning entry.
Under the hood, the transformation was equally focused. The M4 was fitted with hybrid turbos, delivering a staggering 630whp, supported by an upgraded cooling system, fueling, suspension tuning, and exhaust — all meticulously chosen to balance track-capable performance with road reliability. Braking and handling were refined with motorsport-derived hardware, ensuring the car could handle its newfound power without compromise.
Inside, the car retained its comfort — a key part of the vision. Rather than strip it into a bare race car, the build preserved the luxury and daily drivability expected of a BMW M, while introducing subtle motorsport-inspired upgrades to bridge the gap between road and race.
This M4 isn’t just a project car — it’s a symbolic build that embodies the spirit of the BMW M division. It also holds a place in automotive culture, having convoyed and saved DDE, Nico Leonard, and Mr JWW during the 2024 Gumball 3000 Rally, forever marking its legacy as a car that delivers performance, reliability, and presence when it matters most.
Back In 2020 when I when I was only doing M4 content, majority of my views were from the USA or the UK (50% still are) however back then I wanted to be able to proudly say that a Malaysian car was going viral internationally. Hence why I have never considered removint the Malaysian Flag from the M4.
My dad, Dr Patrick Timothy Gurubatham carried the Malaysian flag when he was representing Malaysia internationally in the Squash scene when he was my age so I wanted to carry the Malaysian flag to showcase our Malaysian car culture.
The M4 has since gone for a number of international events and publiciations, the largest being Gumball3000. It flag will always be apart of the M4.
