This build, made from a base model BMW E46 318Ci, is undoubtedly the most thrilling project I’ve undertaken. Growing up, my parents disapproved of video games and gaming consoles, so I never got to play Need For Speed games. Unfortunately, when I finally had the chance to play them, I had already outgrown them. So, I decided to experience Need For Speed in real life with this build.
In 2023, I made the decision to purchase this BMW E46. 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the Need For Speed Games, and I felt this build was the perfect way to celebrate.
I chose the 318CI because I primarily needed the car for its chassis. However, due to events and my intention to grow my social media page, I decided to prioritize the bodykit and body design first to attract potential sponsors who could help fund the build.
The bodykit took a whopping seven months to complete. We didn’t want to settle for a pre-made bodykit that didn’t look accurate, so we decided to create our own. J Wide bodykits took their time and precision designing this bodykit, the result is flawless.
Now, it’s time for the engine swap. The NFS GTR will be powered by a Toyota 1UZ V8 Engine paired with an RB gearbox for now. I want to make sure the car is running smoothly before deciding whether to invest in a sequential gearbox.
Once the engine swap is complete, we’ll install the spoiler and side exit exhaust.
Like all builds, the journey is just as exciting as the destination. So, I don’t plan to speed run this build like I did my R34 G Spec PW.
I’m a detail-oriented person, so I’ll take my time and make this car as accurate to the game as possible.
